Seeking women's perspectives on the use of robotics technology in breast surgery
Background
Breast cancer is common affecting 1 in eight women in the UK.
Breast reconstruction surgery is routinely performed in the UK following mastectomy for patients with breast cancer or patients wishing to have prophylactic mastectomies for a genetic mutation.
Internationally some breast surgeons are looking at the use of robotic surgical technology to help with this operation.
This technology has been used successfully in other parts of the body where the operating space is small e.g. pelvic surgery.
Robotic breast surgery is performed via a scar in the armpit, with a surgeon operating the robot.
How you can get involved
We are looking for women who would like to share their views on the use of robotics in breast surgery.
We will be organising virtual group events and a network of interested women to contribute to designing a study looking into this new area in breast surgery.
Please complete this brief questionnaire to register your interest in being part of this research
