What is patient and public involvement and engagement?
Patients, as well as their carers, friends and family, all have their own experience of using cancer services. They can all share their experience and ideas to improve services and care, as well as shape how research is carried out. Involvement is not participating in research, for example being part of a clinical trial - it is sharing your experience.
You can sign up to the Cancer Patients’ Voice platform to receive emails about different projects that are looking for your ideas and experiences. This gives you information about different areas of work that are going on and you can contribute whenever it suits you.
‘The Cancer Patients’ Voice platform helps ensure the patient’s voice is heard, therefore improving their experience, and other people’s experiences, of the services and research available at the Royal Marsden and elsewhere’, Monica Duncan, member of the platform working group.
