Consultation has concluded
In March 2023, the Royal Marsden successfully upgraded its electronic patient record system by launching a new platform called Connect which is provided by Epic. As part of this upgrade, we introduced a new patient-facing Portal available via app or webpage named MyMarsden. MyMarsden is a window into your medical records.
Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) Group Support:
The MyMarsden Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) Group has played a vital role in supporting the Trust’s MyMarsden team throughout the launch. This group comprises a diverse mix of patients, carers, and members of the public, offering valuable feedback on the experience of accessing and using MyMarsden.
Current Usage and Ongoing Improvements:
62% of patients are now registered with MyMarsden, benefiting from centralized access to appointments, letters and results.
We acknowledge that, as with any new system, there are challenges. Work continues behind the scenes, collaborating with clinical teams to enhance the platform and ensure it meets the needs of all patients.
Key Contributions from the PPI Group:
Identified issues such as: Difficulties in signing up, confusion between the MyMarsden and MyChart titles and initial absence of historic patient data.
Reviewed patient literature to ensure clarity, accessibility, and inclusivity.
Co-developed a patient survey to gather feedback on viewing results in MyMarsden.
The PPI Group continues to provide feedback and suggestions to further improve usability and value for patients. We are currently working on: Departmental appointments, patients setting their personalised preferences, i.e. results reporting and patient and keyworker communication.
